I assume Thew means the play where Lehmann was sent off when he refers to "tackle."
Lehmann made a huge mistake before he sent Eto'o to the ground - the striker was one more step from a shot and Lehmann could have made the play.
But that was not the most egregious call by the Ref. He blew the whistle nearly immediately - no doubt about the foul - so play HAD to stop. Now he made a mistake to not let the play run through and give Barca the advantage - that was the right thing to do - but once he blows the play dead, he has committed himself to that course of action. Advantage is always a judgment call, but once the whistle blows; the play stops.
Outstanding heart by the English (again funny to use the national term), but once they were a man down, chances were slim they could pull it off.
